Jiaying Ellyse Johnson
At just 14 years old, Jiaying Ellyse Johnson is making great accomplishments in the figure skating world, representing Team USA at the junior level while training in Chicago. Since 2018, she has been perfecting her skills in Edea Chorus boots, mastering all the triple jumps and triple-triple combinations. Her dedication paid off when she placed in the top 6 at the 2024 US Junior National Championships.
Jiaying’s journey with Edea began when she was 8 years old. Her coach at the time recommended she get a better boot, and after some research, her dad found the Edea Chorus boots. From the moment she tried them on, she was hooked. “My feet bonded with them immediately, like they were made for each other.” Jiaying recalls. “To this day, I still use these amazing boots and plan to continue competing, as well as training with them for my triple Axel.”
The Edea Chorus boots have been a constant in her skating career, providing the perfect blend of comfort and support. “I’ve never felt the need to change my skates because Edea Chorus works incredibly well for me.” she says.
Jiaying’s influence extends beyond her own achievements. Young skaters at her rink look up to her, especially when they realize they wear the same boots. “It inspires them to work hard and achieve similar accomplishments,” she notes. She also remembers a camp where a coach asked the athletes about their boots. “When I said I love my Edea Chorus boots, everyone was shocked I could do elite training and skate extended sessions with them.”
For Jiaying, the Edea Chorus boots are more than just equipment—they’re a key part of her success. “They do all the work, providing comfort and support while allowing me to feel my body movements perfectly,” she explains. She hopes her story will inspire the next generation of figure skaters to understand that they don’t need to switch to stiffer boots at a young age. Also to make sure you always communicate to your coach and skate tech about figure skating equipment.
Looking ahead, Jiaying aims to reach new heights in her skating career with her trusted Edea Chorus boots. “I trust that Skates U.S. and Edea will continue to support me with the best equipment for my figure skating journey,” she says.
